Laboratorio Giuditta Brozzetti’s “Rinascimento” Pillow is a tribute to Umbria’s artistic patrimony and an exquisite example of the superior quality and timeless beauty of handwoven Umbrian fabrics. The facing design, which was woven by hand on antique jacquard looms dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, features a floral pattern in alternating colors as inspired by a wooden choir stall in Perugia’s 16th Century Church of Saint Peter in Perugia.
The facing fabric is woven with a cotton warp and a weft constructed in vintage Florentine silks sourced from the Laboratorio’s archive. The relatively heavy gauge of the vintage silk threads as compared to more readily available modern silk adds unique depth and substance to the pattern. The result is an heirloom piece that conveys the same quality that you might otherwise expect form a valuable antique.
Assembled and finished by hand; backed in velvet cotton.
