Florence is the leather-making capital of Italy. Its proximity to the Arno River and its densely forested countryside have allowed its artisans to excel at this craft for over seven centuries. Today, at the forefront of this historic and renowned sector of Italian artisanship is the Romanelli family.
Their story begins a couple of generations ago when Gianpaolo Romanelli, after launching his career at a local tannery, went on to found his own fur company in 1961. In 1994, his two sons, Luca (left) and Stefano (right), took over the family business, and they expanded the Romanelli brand to include the handcrafting of premium-quality leather goods.
Today, Luca and Stefano work alongside their children, and together, with Gianpaolo’s same passion, they carry on the family tradition of combining elegance and function to create leather goods and outerwear emblematic of the Romanelli multi-generational mastery.
