"Toson d'Oro" Charm

Toson d’Oro means “Golden Fleece” in Italian. This charm is a reproduction of the Golden Fleece pendant worn by Cosimo I de Medici, the first Grand Duke of Tuscany, who was officially inducted into the Order of the Golden Fleece by King Charles V in 1546.

The choice of the of Golden Fleece as the Order’s emblem was inspired by the Ancient Greek mythological tale of Jason who, in order to assume his place on the throne, set out on a quest to obtain the fleece. The Golden Fleece had curative properties, and is a symbol of authority, and kingship.

This charm was cast in solid Sterling Silver according to the traditional lost-wax method by Maestro Paolo Penko.
