Eidos SS17 - Bar Palladio to Bagru

Eidos is a menswear brand that educates about timeless masculine elegance. It is a brand that inspires by affording men the tools necessary to express their own individuality. As of its Spring-Summer 2017 New York Mens Fashion Week (NYMFW) presentation, Eidos is a brand that explores, broadening its horizons beyond its native Italy to discover similarities with cultures that might otherwise seem worlds away.  

This season's inspiration, as unexpected as it might seem to the casual observer, is the next logical step for Creative Director Antonio Ciongoli whose mission as a designer extends well beyond "just making cool clothes for guys to wear."

In pursuit of authenticity, the journey that Antonio shares through this collection mirrors his own path of discovery on a recent trip to India.  He leaves Bar Palladio, a trendy Italian-founded restaurant and lounge located in an ornate historic palace in Jaipur, and travels to Bagru, a village of humble artisans, where bright colors are contrasted with earthy tones, thick crowds and dust.  

In fact, contrast becomes the central theme of this collection: sharp sartorial silhouettes are paired with relaxed and flowing kurtas and patiala pajamas. Models range in age and gender, contributing an additional sense of refinement and universality to an already elevated collection.  All this is projected onto a canvas of simple, harmonious colors ranging from cream to indigo, grey to white, khaki to green...   

Respecting heritage is fundamental to Eidos' DNA.  It's a universal concept that encourages all to embrace the old, and carry it into the new.  The SS17 collection strikes a chord as it authentically marries tradition with contemporary aesthetics...  

...The result is a message that inspires me to explore the world and.... why not?.... to dress well while I'm doing it!
